How can we stay soft and receptive in the face of so much collective pain?

How can we create protective spaces where we can feel our tenderness and our vulnerability?

Titled ‘Holding Hope’, this image began to emerge during the Spring that the war in the Ukraine began. It is an attempt to reconcile the beauty and possibility that moves through the land during this season, with the heart-breaking truth that so much man-made destruction and despair simultaneously exists.

During the years that I experienced chronic illness there were bleak times when I had to ask others to hold hope for me, because I could no longer find it. Now I have the privilege of being able to hold hope for others less fortunate than myself.

For me, one of those eggs represents peace. Another is belonging to the wild world - the kind of belonging that transcends geographical borders, nationality, race and gender. A remembering that we are all part of the Living Earth.
